Biography[]
2020s - 2030s[]
Around 2020, when in her early teens, Lydia used to model for Midnight Arms, though she claims they never payed her back. Ever since she's taken a personal approach when dealing with them.[2][1]
At some point after the Fourth Corporate War, Lydia — now known by her nickname Woodchipper — settled in the outskirts of Heywood in Night City.[3]
2040s[]
In the early 2040s, due to the rise of the nomad population in Night City during the Time of the Red, a steady increase in conflicts between families became a common occurrance. Many times when arriving at Night City, these nomads would seek mediation, and Woodchipper's Garage was often where they went to as long as they came in peacefully and without being armed, otherwise Woodchipper would kick them out. Many of them were from either the Aldecaldos or the Jodes, though any nomad family was welcomed. On behalf of the Aldecaldos, Woodchipper helped them resolve their disputes; from squabbles over reclaimed land, to interpersonal conflicts, or quarrels over dock space in South Night City and popular camping parking lots in Santo Domingo and Rancho Coronado. To her, it was all about personal relationships and earning trust. For her clients, she was equal parts extralegal judge, private investigator, and marriage counselor.
Working close with nomads brought the attention of the fixers around Night City, who sought to trade with the nomadic packs. As such, every week they asked Woodchipper if she had anything of interest, especially weaponry. Shortly thereafter, Woodchipper also used her garage to store all the items that she or her nomad colleagues brought from their travels, selling anything the fixers took an interest in. Woodchipper didn't want to work for corporations, and tried to make sure the fixers she sold to didn't as well.[3][1]
By 2045, in addition to being a mediator, Woodchipper had built a notable network of arms dealings. She usually acted as the middle woman between the city fixers and the guns coming from South America and Texas via the Jodes, those coming from the sea via Thelas Nation, and those coming from the rest of North America via the Aldecaldos. With all this, Woodchipper was able to set her own outdoor Night Market where she lived, being known as Woodchipper's Block Party.[4]
On occasions, Endo gave Woodchipper the cyberware and weapons he had salvaged from around downtown Night City, so she would give them to those who needed them the most.[6] PI Fashanu Baines of Woodland Park also worked with her from time to time.[5] Woodchipper sponsored the Aldecaldo Warriors, who she invited to her Night Market to celebrate.[7]
