The Wind Farms is a wind farm located on the eastern Badlands of Night City.
Overview[]
This large area of wind turbines stretches across the Badlands to the east of Night City, occupying much of the regions of Rocky Ridge Plains, Vasquez Pass, and a portion of Sierra Sonora. The Interstate 9 freeway goes through the farm. Much of its eastern section is dotted with a minefield, denoting its close proximity to the border with Southern California.[1]
These wind farms once played a major role in generating electricity for Night City, but gradually fell into disrepair and were shut down some time prior to 2077. This was due to the extreme changes in the climate (most importantly the more frequent hurricanes and sand storms), caused by the layer of dust in the atmosphere as a result of the Himalayan Wars. The damage caused by the climate change proved too frequent and costly to warrant repairs. The same reason has caused the majority of the Solar Arrays in the southern Badlands to go defunct as well.[1][2]
