Vortex was a Netrunner working as a dealer and operator for a Tyger Claws casino on Longshore South street in Charter Hill, Westbrook.

She reprogrammed the casino's slot machines to skim a small percentage of each winning to go to her own pocket. During a profits check between ranging from January to June 2077, the Tyger Claws found out and unsuccessfully interrogated her about her the missing balance. Following the interrogation, her body was disposed of in the nearby sewers. Following her apparent disappearance, Wakako Okada tasked Chang Hoon Nam with finding any trace left behind by her on the NET.

In 2077, V was approached by Wakako Okada to visit Vortex's last known location and find out what happened to her, and retrieve her credchip from the casino.

Netrunners have rep for thinking of themselves as the quickest, sharpest and slickest operators out there. They ooze with the confidence that they can pull a fast one on just about anyone. Honestly, they're usually right. But when they're wrong, they pay a heavy price. Vortex was one such cocky chairjock. She let her confidence soar up and beyond the prudent precautions that would have kept her a step ahead. Unfortunately for her, this was one mistake she won't have the opportunity to learn from.
