Biography[]

Cyberpunk 2077[]

Viktor was once a heavyweight boxer in Watson and a member of Night City Devils, competing in the Watson Boxing Grand Prix. He eventually came in second place in the finals.[3] He left that life behind, and has come to prefer the relatively straightforward life of a back-alley ripperdoc. He continued to watch boxing matches avidly. His shop saw a steady amount of traffic thanks to a local fixer who insisted on outfitting her mercs with the latest implants. He came to know V and Jackie Welles well over the first six months of their career as mercenaries.

When V comes to Viktor for implants for an upcoming heist planned by Dexter DeShawn, Viktor accepts an IOU from V and gives them both a grip and a new Kiroshi implant.[4] V is overwhelmed by the unexpected generosity, but Viktor claims it is an investment to make sure that V returns alive to pay off the €$21,000 they now owe him. Should V later return to pay off that debt, Viktor tries to refuse it and argues V can make better use of the cash, but V insists on giving him his due.[5] He also called V and let them know about the new cyberware software that has hit the market.[6]

At some point Viktor was visited and questioned by fixer Arthur Cormac, who was looking for Teresa after she killed his friend Kyle J.. He asked if the ripper heard something about someone looking for a Tsunami Nekomata or who wanted to sell a cyberarm. Viktor insisted that he doesn't know anything about this situation.[7]

After their heist, V was brought to Viktor by Takemura following Dexter's betrayal. After a few weeks of recovery Viktor told V that the Relic inside them is slowly overwriting their mind with Johnny Silverhand's engram. Worse, as skilled as Viktor is, he has no means of saving V, and can only continue to offer his support as a ripperdoc.[8]

Viktor attended Jackie's ofrenda, and left a pair of boxing gloves as an offering, explaining that Jackie was the first person he trained who managed to knock him out in one hit.[9] V visited Viktor to ask him about the strange murals that they started seeing after their mind became entangled with Johnny Silverhand's engram. Vik responded that he can't do anything with that and that V must find a way to get rid of the Relic fast.[10]

Viktor later attended V's fight against boxing champion Razor Hugh in the Grand Imperial Mall in Pacifica, taking the role of V's coach and second during the match. He told them that Razor is weak to hits in the torso because he recently had new abdominal muscles implanted.[11]

If V beats Razor Hugh:

V won the fight, and Viktor along with other fighters complimented them.

If V accepts Coach Fred's offer to throw the fight:

V lost to Razor, and Viktor noticed that they threw the fight, for which he criticized them.

Phantom Liberty[]

After their presidential rescue operation in Dogtown, V asked Viktor if he thinks that Militech would be able to help them deal with the Relic using an AI from beyond the Blackwall housed in a neural matrix. Vik responded by saying that it might be possible and that V should go for it, since they need all the options they can get.

If V texted Viktor for advice about Tool's condition:

Viktor wrote that condition like this was once known as "Induced Identity" and that some wreaths from the 50s had an issue related to it. He advised trying to induce a cognitive dissonance in the patient by presenting them with something personal from their true identity to undermine the adopted identity, but told V to be carefull because patients in this state might be unstable and the situation could get worse.

Endings[]

If V accepted Hanako Arasaka's offer:

V called Viktor after they spent some time on the Arasaka Orbital Station. He told them that he can't help them long distance and that they need to make some decision.[12]
Viktor later left a message to V where he asked if the Earth is really that beautiful from space, said that their cyberware may start acting up while they're up there and offered to do a full checkup when, or if, they come back.[13]

If V decided to call Rogue Amendiares for help or chose to assault the Arasaka Tower alone and returned to their body:

At some point V asked Viktor to find information about their new client, Mr. Blue Eyes, but no one knew anything about him, which led him to conclude that he must be a very influential person, too high up to leave any traces behind, or an incredibly shady person, since Night City doesn't "abide the nameless".[14]
Viktor later left a message to V saying that they should get what they can out of this life, since they deserve it more than anyone else he knows, but at the same time he hasn't seen them in a while and asked them to stop by some time.[15]

If V decided to call Panam Palmer for help and returned to their body:

Viktor left a message to V asking how is life out on the Badlands, warning about dust in their implants and asking them to stop by when they're back in the city.[16]

If V reached Mikoshi but didn't return to their body:

Viktor left a message to V saying that they missed their last checkup and asked them to at least let him know that they're still alive.[17]

If V was defeated in combat during their assault on the Arasaka Tower or decided to "put everything to rest":

Viktor left a message to V after being encouraged by Misty. He was upset by V's death, wished that he could have done more and said that they will all miss them.[18]

If V decided to call Solomon Reed for help:

Due to mounting corporate pressure, Viktor eventually relented and became employed as a ripperdoc under a new Zetatech branch, which now occupied the former location of Misty's Esoterica. Viktor still worked out of his basement clinic but operated to corporate standards.
When V woke up from their two-year coma in 2079 after undergoing surgery, they called Viktor to tell him about their recovery. Vik was happy about finally hearing from V, who shared their diagnosis with the ripper. He said that the doctors must be wrong, and the merc should pay him a visit. After checking up on V, he confirmed that the diagnosis was correct and that he will be unable to help them, with their visit being cut short by another client, Tyler, coming to Viktor's clinic.[19]
Viktor later left a message to V with an apology for how their last conversation ended and invited V over for a do over. He also told V that he's being sent to Frisco while Zetatech will be renovating his clinic.[20]

Database Entry[]

Viktor Vektor

VIKTOR VEKTOR

If you want a decent chrome, you go to Vik's. While other places might look like spaceship interiors crossed with zen rooms, his ripperdoc clinic is no-nonsense and doesn't bombard customers with corporate logos. If you're nice, he might even give you a beer with your anesthesia before he starts cutting. Viktor Vektor is actually one of the living legends of Night City - a fact he's been trying to get people to forget for years. He's a man of principle, an old-school tough-guy from the streets for whom honor and morals were forged in the Night City Devils boxing club.[2]

Trivia[]

  • With the release of Phantom Liberty, which added The Tower ending, Viktor is the only character that will always leave a message for V during the credits.

Development[]

When technology became advanced, cyberware became common. This is why people in Night City need ripperdocs. Ripperdocs are medical technicians -- half doctors, half engineers. They can patch you up in no time, stitching your gut after it has been slashed open and tending to bullet wounds. And if your tech is broken, they can either fix it or install new, illegal wares. Viktor is a master of both -- the scalpel and the screwdriver. Having been a ringside physician for years, he sure has enough experience.
