Disambig This article is about the location in Cyberpunk RED. For the location in 2020, see University District (2020).

The University District was a rebuilding urban district located in central Night City. It would eventually become part of the Heywood District.

Overview[]

2020s - 2030s[]

Prior to the Fourth Corporate War, University District was a section located in the southwestern area of central Night City, though this new one would also incorporate portions of neighboring West Hill as well. Originally, this district was primarily set aside as a comfortable living space, with architecture ranging from faux brownstones to pseudo-Victorian gingerbread homes, interspersed with plenty of small shops, restaurants, and businesses within easy walking distance. Of note, it housed the notorious Night City University and Lake Park. Due to the close proximity of the City & Corporate District, it's likely some parts of the district were heavily damaged during the Night City Holocaust.

After the war, during the rebuilding period of Night City, the slim University District was fortified due to to being on the edge of the South Night City Combat Zone.[1]

2040s[]

By the 2040s, this district contained the only still functioning collage institution in the metropolis, Night City University. Due to the close proximity of a Combat Zone, gangs were usually a common sight, and both the NCPD and the NCU Campus Police were struggling in keeping them out. Despite this, rebuilding was going forward, and ongoing development projects were still arranged, which included megabuildings to house the displaced population and plans to rebuild the NCART lines above ground and extend them to cover all the districts in the city.[1]

In 2045, a notorious case of kidnappings in the district caused the campus police and the NCPD to investigate the missing women whereabouts, but the strong gang presence in the border with South Night City difficulted the task. In the end, a mercenary group was hired to solve this case of disappearances, who managed to find the culprit, a former NCU Professor known as Huntver. They found him at Union Chapel, where they were able to rescue student Lucy Rhinemeyer, the sole survivor.[2]
