Disambig This article is about the Galena GA40xt "Rattler". For other variants, see Thorton Galena.

With its unusually high mileage and relatively small frame, this car is a perennial favorite among taxi and delivery drivers.

 — Galena "Rattler", Cyberpunk 2077

The "Rattler" is a nomad version of the Galena model, a vehicle manufactured by Thorton in Cyberpunk 2077.

History[]

The Rattler was a Galena GA40xt, which was heavily customized by the Bakkers Nomad clan. It is V's personal car if they have chosen the Nomad lifepath.[1] V used it to escape the Arasaka convoy during a smuggling run into Night City, but the car was wrecked and they had to abandon it.[2]

The Rattler was eventually found by a young woman called Lana Prince. She transported it to the city's landfill, where she managed to fix some of its major problems, including getting its computer functioning again. The reactivated vehicle sent a signal to its last registered owner, V, who followed the signal and was reunited with their old ride.

V inspected the Rattler, noting the repairs to the engine, but also that it still required a lot more work. Lana discovered him with the car and claimed it was hers now; after some small talk, she explained to V she needed it to leave Night City for good. V then chose to either give the car to Lana, in which case she eventually left with it; or to keep it, either by buying it from Lana or threatening her.[3]

The fact this car still drives is a miracle. After years off-roading it in the desert, just about everything on this rig either creaks or grinds. The parts this car rolled off the assembly line with have been replaced by scrap metal and worn rubber. The engine's constant wheezing has you convinced the car contracted terminal tuberculosis. If this scrap heap on wheels rolled into any city shop, the mechanic would probably vomit and faint. In short, only someone truly desperate would ever catch themselves sitting behind the wheel of this mobile tetanus trap.[1]

Acquisition[]

Only available for the Nomad lifepath. After the prologue, V will lose the Rattler. During Act II, V will receive a call with the location of the vehicle, starting the quest These Boots Are Made for Walkin'. Depending on the dialogue choices, the "Rattler" can be recovered at the end of said quest.

Associated Quests[]

Notes[]

  • It is not possible to listen to the radio while driving the car during the prologue.
  • The Rattler is one of the few vehicles in Cyberpunk 2077 (the others being V's Hella EC-D i360 and the Turbo-R V-Tech) that have a horse decal on the rear right side of the car and a bulldog bobblehead on the dashboard.
  • In the Call Vehicle Menu and while Scanning it is referred to as the Thorton Galena "Rattler".
