Shinobu Nakagawa is a character in the Cyberpunk series.
Biography[]
At some point, Nakagawa adopted Hayato as his son after the death of the kid's parents.[1]
In 2020, "Shinobu" was one of the most publicly active members of the Nakagawa Kabuki Troupe, playing all the group's female lead roles. Nakagawa bio-sculpted into "her" role to look more feminine and appeared in public dressed in a kimono, moving with the grace of a feudal princess. Traditionally, all women's roles in Kabuki theater were played by men, so no one knew Nakagawa's gender. Having never spoken, it was believed that Shinobu's vocal cords were cut. Nakagawa always walked and acted with a feminine grace that seem to come naturally. He led an active life within Night City, appearing at charity benefits and giving donations to whatever cause seemed most needy at the moment, and was a favorite of the media, with the entire city charmed by their presence. Nakagawa was the most popular player in the troupe, and by far the most friendly as well. He was known to mingle with the audience after performances, something the other members never did.[2]
After the Night City Holocaust of 2023, Nakagawa stepped up to become a deal maker with various local Japanese corporations in Night City, organizing what would be known as the Night City Co-Prosperity Sphere. Nakagawa arranged an exodus of the residents of the ruined Japantown to what would become the Kabuki district of the Watson Development. The NCCS, with Nakagawa as the leader, contacted with the remains of the Tyger's Claw gang and reformed them into a modern guardian gang known as the Tyger Claws to protect the Japanese community in Night City.
At some point during those events, Shinobu and his troupe established the Nakagawa Kabuki Theater in Watson. He also founded the Nakagawa Foundation, an asset management company. Nakagawa's son, Hayato, would grow up wanting to become an actor as well, but he did not have the talent to succeed, instead joining the Tyger Claws. Shinobu also helped Zen, who dedicated his life to repay the favor.
In 2042, Nakagawa died of suspicious causes, igniting a fierce inheritance battle over his possessions. After a ferocious fight, Hayato Nakagawa managed to come out victorious, becoming the new leader of the Tyger Claws and taking the name Shinobu the Second in honor of his predecessor. He left the Foundation to his trusted wife Ryoko Fujiwara.[1]
