Scraps is located in the Jackson Plains, in the southern Badlands.
Overview[]
Scraps is a house-workshop located southeast of Las Palapas Motel. It is a simple building surrounded by barbed wire. It is a heavily fortified location, protected by landmines, a security camera, and a turret. The entrance is further secured with two laser-triggered mines.
History[]
Patrick Witwer had been living alone here since at least 2070, as revealed by his journal.[1] During the chaos of the Unification War, he kidnapped a refugee named Jane, who was fleeing her besieged city to reach a friend named Billy in Night City.[2] Witwer kept Jane imprisoned in the basement, feeding her and convincing himself that he had some sort of sincere relationship with the "so damn beautiful" woman, despite her being "mean as a rattler sometimes."[1]
Over her four years in captivity, Jane began to resign herself to her fate, eventually sinking into depression. In 2074, Witwer decided she needed "friends" and kidnapped a new prisoner, Tony. Tony was apparently a Night City resident who was hiking and camping in the Badlands when Witwer drugged him at his campsite.[3] According to Tony's texts, Jane had seemingly lost her mind after years of confinement.[3]
By 2075, Witwer's journal mentions how everything feels "heavy" and how he's short of breath.[1] He had an aging Zetatech pacemaker due to a weak heart. An email from his doctor urges him to come to Night City for another procedure, but Witwer replies that he can't leave, clearly out of concern for his prisoners.[4]
If V discovers the location:
- In 2077, Witwer's body is found rotting on the ground floor, just in front of the locked basement door. It appears he succumbed to a heart attack. Downstairs, V finds two more bodies–Jane and Tony–who were trapped and forgotten in the basement until they died.
