The Satwave Power Plant is located on the outskirts of Santo Domingo, on the southern Badlands of Night City.
Overview[]
The power station consists of one large tower that functions as the power collection unit, while the three large antennas to the south collect microwave energy from satellites in orbit around Earth. The energy is then converted into enough electricity to power a large amount of the sub-districts of Night City. Additional infrastructure connected to the plant strung out alongside a road running southwest towards the South California border, and some more on the hills to the east, near the Laguna Bend Reservoir.[2]
History[]
In 2077, Panam Palmer and V, in search of a method on how to down a Kang Tao AV in order to capture Anders Hellman, devised a plan to overload the power plant's receiver core to generate an EMP to bring down all of the AV's systems and make it crash-land somewhere in the surrounding Jackson Plains. While their plan to generate an EMP was a success, it proved insufficient to bring down the AV on its own, requiring an additional hit by Panam's rocket launcher.[2]
In the aftermath of the EMP, the majority of Night City experienced a blackout, costing roughly 120 million eurodollars in damages. Many of the nearby residents suffered critical implant failures, but human casualties were held at a minimum.[3]
Associated Quests[]
Bugs[]
- During the main quest Lightning Breaks, a database entry will unlock by the title "Old Power Plant". While the image of this entry correctly portrays the Solar Power Station, its description and title refer to the Electric Corporation Power Plant in Santo Domingo.
