Rusty's Dive Shack is a bar and pawn shop located in the Port district of central Night City.
Overview[]
Rusty's Dive Shack was a rough bar located in the Night City waterfront that catered to sea-fearing people, whether they were dock workers, off duty sailors, nomads, or pirates. The bar not only provided them with drinks and entertainment, but also acted as a store to rent and prepare diving equipment, as well as a place to trade salvage for goods, without the need of an intermediary. The owner, Rusty, was known to offer a helping hand to salvagers too poor to have their own equipment, and too desperate to not work for him.[1][2]
The front of the shack was built out of the recovered bridge and loading doors of an old IHAG container submarine, while the rest of the establishment was carved out of a stack of cargo containers wielded together. Business was mostly kept in the ground floor, a large space furnished with old tables and mess benches from commercial subs and ships. The atmosphere here was described as a wash of briny, beer-soaked air, and the raucous shouting of sea-fearing people. A salvaged airlock led into the dive shop, while an elevator went up to Rusty's private office.[3]
During the 2040s, most wreckages in and near Del Coronado Bay had already been already cleared out by sea nomad, however some stuff still remained. With this in mind, Rusty rented equipment to would-be salvagers in exchange of a share from the finds. He also traded salvage for drinks, which was something that newcomers or rookie salvagers liked to do.[1]
Known Drinks[]
- Rusty's signature drink during the 2040s was a homemade shark liver oil, costing 10eb per cup. Tasting fishy and rancid, it was supposed to keep drinkers warm while in the cold depths of the sea.[1]
