ROCKY RIDGE - A TRUE PARADISE FAR FROM THE BIG CITY BUSTLE[2]
Rocky Ridge is an abandoned town located in the eastern Badlands of Night City.
History[]
Early history[]
In the early 2070s, there was an attempt to construct a self-contained residential area in the desert east of Night City. Similar to Rancho Coronado, Rocky Ridge was a town developed to be self-sufficient, cozy and practical. Streets were plotted out and houses were built, ready to welcome the workers employed by the businesses located just next door. Plenty of the homes here offered roof for all the families that worked in the nearby highway project, and it would also offer a freeway extension to the town for an easier job commuting. It was aiming to be a choice for people looking for a new place to live, and was advertised as a paradise, guaranteeing quiet and peace, while at the same time being really close to Night City. But like most investments in California, it didn't end well. The nearby businesses went bankrupt shortly after, and at the same time construction became too expansive. Soon, the town was no longer economically viable. In just a mere day, the construction workers had disappeared, and contractors had lost their jobs while the houses in Rocky Ridge became vacant as the town was abandoned.[2][3][4]
2077[]
By 2077, Rocky Ridge was another ghost town in the Badlands, having been completely forgotten by Night City. The only thing it was notorious for was its landmark status, which broke up the otherwise monotonous drive out of Night City. However, it was not advised to stop for long, as Rocky Ridge had become a hotspot for looters and the occasional Raffen Shiv band. Moreover, the decrepit houses were prone to collapse without warning.[3][4] The Wraiths established a presence here, including a room used by Nash. That same year, Panam Palmer lost her truck after Nash cheated her by stealing it and all the cargo they were supposed to deliver. With the help of V, Panam recovered the "Warhorse" from a group of Wraiths in Rocky Ridge.[5][6]
Database Entry[]
ROCKY RIDGE
It was supposed to measure up to Rancho Coronado - cozy, practical, self-sufficient, offering a roof over the head for the families of every worker building the nearby highway. Rocky Ridge was sold to people as a paradise guaranteeing peace and quiet, but also just a stone's throw away from the big city and everything it had to offer. Unfortunately, it ended like most investments end in California - the construction became too expansive and Rocky Ridge was no longer economically viable. From one day to the next the construction sides were deserted, contractors lost their jobs and the houses of Rocky Ridge became vacant. Today the area is completely abandoned and almost entirely forgotten by Night City - perfect for looters and the occasional band of Raffen Shiv.[4]
