This article is about the location in Cyberpunk RED. For other uses, see Rancho Coronado (disambiguation).

Rancho Coronado was an overpacked suburb located south of central Night City during the Time of the Red.

Overview[]

2020s - 2030s[]

Rancho Coronado was incepted as a place where the workers of Night City could live. Even after the Fourth Corporate War, this purpose didn't change much. Although after the conflict many refuges from around the metropolitan area flooded the surrounding suburbs, constructing multitude of tent cities in the middle of what had previously been safe suburban beavervilles.

During the following years, Rancho Coronado became one of the most affected areas from the postwar world. Many of the local neighborhoods were packed with homeless citizens who had either fled other places of Night City because of the war, or who had been pushed out due to the ongoing gentrification of the Rebuilding Urban Center. This resulted in a region crammed with refugee camps and tent cities filling every possible space they were not evicted from.[1][2][3]

2040s[]

By the 2040s, Rancho Coronado was a largerly overpacked suburb of Night City. The vast stretch of old beaverville style housings had been mostly taken over by tent cities, and industrial zones that had grown out of the ruins of previous mini-malls. It was crowded, crime-ridden, and on the edge of disaster all the time.[1] Although ongoing development projects all over Night City were still arranged, none were taking place in this part of the metropolis, and while the rest of the districts were gaining a city manager in some capacity, nobody in the Night City Council was interested to represent Rancho Coronado.[4]

By 2045, this district had not seen any major development, as such, Rancho Coronado lacked in many of the resources necessaries to make it function, including utilities such as fire and police services. One of the few reliable places to find clean water in the whole district was a carwash occupied by the Albino Alligators, a gang that had a significant influence on an otherwise left-to-die district.[4]
