The Quadra Turbo R is a drive-able vehicle manufactured by Quadra in Cyberpunk 2077.
Overview
The Quadra Turbo-R was introduced as America's response to Japanese sports car manufactures. It was designed and manufactured in Detroit. With its power turbo-charged V8 engine, it instantly became a star in the tuner scene when it was released in the mid 2050s, this was despite its universally criticized suspension. The next version introduced in 2058 was named the Turbo-R V-Tech, and featured an improved exhaust system and suspension,quickly earning it the status of cult muscle car. The most recent version, introduced in 2069, never surpassed the legendary Quadra Turbo-R '58 in the eyes of the many car enthusiast.[1]
Specifications
The vehicle is powered by CHOOH2, a standard synthetic alcohol fuel.
The Turbo R's styling is reminiscent of 1980s exotic sports cars, as it is wedge-shaped with bulging wheel arches. It has an aerodynamic rear spoiler, grey paint, and numerous light strips serving as brake lights.
The Turbo R appears to have no rear bumper, leaving the car's exhaust visible. Two people can be seated in the Turbo R. Structural bracing protrudes from the door sills, and the dashboard features carbon fiber and several screens indicating vehicle status. Essential information like current speed and engine RPM are shown in a heads-up display (HUD). The gull-wing style steering 'wheel' has two handles for the driver to use.
The car appears to be rear-wheel drive, evidenced by the fact that its rear tires are larger than its front tires. Additionally, the car's exhaust manifold and air intake are visible on the rear, indicating that the car has a rear-mounted engine. The engine is possibly a V10, according to its sounds in new gameplay footage.
The boot is in the front, evidenced by Jackie placing a Militech bot inside of it in the 2018 gameplay reveal.
Development
The Quadra Turbo R was first featured in the Cyberpunk 2077 E3 2018 trailer, where it was driven by V.
The car was shown again in the Cyberpunk 2077 48-minute gameplay reveal, where it was driven by V and owned by Jackie Welles.
Use in the Cyberpunk 2077 ARG
At the end of the Cyberpunk 2077 E3 2018 trailer, an IP address was briefly shown. Users who entered the IP address in a web browser were brought to a Quadra-themed website, which was the start of the Cyberpunk 2077 ARG.
Trivia
- The car was originally named the Quadra V-Tech, before it was changed to its current name during the first Night City Wire event. With the name change, a badge reading "Turbo R" is seen on the right side above the taillights where the car's company name is.
