The Prototype Cyberskeleton is a type of linear frame developed by Arasaka in Cyberpunk: Edgerunners.

Background[]

This prototype cyberskeleton was originally being developed for Adam Smasher; however, it was the Edgerunner David Martinez who became the first to don it.[1] The cyberskeleton was later destroyed by Smasher himself, during his fight against David.[2]

The cyberskeleton possesses a very large frame that can only move by using gravitational field generators and two compacted thrusters (the same kind used for aerodynes). It is very tough, being capable of withstanding bullets and missiles without taking significant damage. It possesses two arms, each with three hands. David used these to wield six rifles simultaneously.

By using the gravitational field generators to increase gravity within a specific area, the operator can easily kill most humans they target, besides create large potholes in asphalt roads, and crush vehicles until they explode. By decreasing the gravity within the area, the operator can also fly through the air with the help of the compacted thrusters. The operator can also manipulate magnetic forces to affect metal, being able to pull firearms from the enemy's hands.

Despite its immense power, Adam Smasher considered the cyberskeleton a failure, especially due to its high dependency on the gravitational field generators for locomotion. The cyberskeleton also put an immense strain on the operator. Even David, who was known for his immense tolerance for cyberware, had to use immunosuppresants constantly while operating it - to avoid the drifting in and out of cyberpsychosis he experienced during its use from becoming a permanent state.

Notes[]

  • The cyberskeleton has the model number CS-EXO4-040800227-S, whereas the spinal attachment has the model number CS-S07-021500516-C.[1]
