Panama is a country on the isthmus linking Central and South America. The Panama Canal, a famous feat of human engineering, cuts through its center, linking the Atlantic and Pacific oceans to create an essential shipping route.
History[]
Panama entered into a major conflict with the US along with Honduras, El Salvador, and Nicaragua in what was known as the First Central American War. Military forces were sent to secure the Panama Canal Zone from an ex-U.S. puppet dictator.
Cities[]
Panama City[]
The capital, Panama City, is a modern metropolis filled with skyscrapers, casinos, and nightclubs that contrast with colonial buildings in the Casco Viejo district and the rain forest of Natural Metropolitan Park. After the First Central American War, Panama City was almost destroyed; however, it was quickly rebuilt and is a thriving modern high-tech city that has ties with its allies in Central America. The city also has its fair share of corporations in it.
