O'Flaherty's Tavern was a traditional Irish pub located in the Northside District of Central Night City.

History[]

Early history[]

At some point Daniel O'Flaherty and his daughter Bridget moved to Night City, where he opened O'Flaherty's, an Irish tavern and where they lived. Soon, O'Flaherty's became a popular hanging spot for the local Irish community. Anyone that wanted to fit in just needed to never ask for a cold beer, and it was helpful if they could speak Gaelic, but it was not necessary.

Over the years, the tavern was patronized by the largely Irish and Italian attendees of the Holy Angels catholic church across the street, and it was a good lunch spot for local businesses. The beer and corned beef also draw in teachers and students from the Range shooting gallery, which in itself was its own kind of security for the pub.[1]

2020s[]

In 2020, the NCPD believed that the owner harbored local countrymen in trouble in the rooms upstairs, and suspected the bar itself of being a stop on the underground railroad for I.R.A. members. Truthfully, deals for weapons destined for the Northern Irish Pacification Zone took place in the back booths, under cover of coppery haired little girls going to the community room for step dancing classes, complete with Uillean bag pipes and harps.[1]

Layout & Overview[]

First floor layout

O'Flaherty's Tavern was a dark and quiet place with private, high-backed wood booths, a salvaged long bar made with real oakwood, and TV screens always set to soccer and rugby matches. It served good Irish whiskey and hearty Irish home cooking seven days a week, 12pm to 4am officially, and to the local Irish emigrate community at any time. Personal questions were not too appreciated in the establishment; a heavily armed man at the bar could be a local Northside techie, or an I.R.A. gunner on the run. You could never know.

The first floor included the entrance, the bar counter, booths, bathrooms, and a community room. The owner and his daughter Bridget, lived upstairs. Security consisted of mini-cameras found inside and out (even in the restrooms), small laser mounts on the roof, obvious and remote alarms, electrified locks, motion sensor-tripped flood lights, a submachine gun under the cash register, and Joe and Pete, two four-and-a-half foot tall bio-engineered Irish wolfhounds.[1]
