Background

Written and composed by Johnny Silverhand, "Never Fade Away" was part of his 2013 solo album A Cool Metal Fire under the Universal Media label. Some time afterwards he released the song again in an album titled Never Fade Away. Finally, after the Samurai reunion, another version with the rest of the band was recorded.

By 2077, the Samurai version was usually played on 107.3 Morro Rock Radio.

• The title is based on a mini adventure in Cyberpunk 2013 called "Never Fade Away", which is about Johnny trying to get his girlfriend, Alt, back from Arasaka after they kidnapped her.
• The song's scan data in Cyberpunk 2077 wrongly states the release year to be in April 16, 2009 when the song was composed and released in 2013 after the events surrounding Alt's death.
