NET Architectures are air-gapped systems that were created post-DataKrash as alternatives to the Net.
Overview[]
A NET Architecture is made up of a physical server and composed of several levels of software that can be represented via Virtuality Goggles as a simulated digital space that overlaps with one's physical surroundings. Each NET Architecture is isolated, but can be hacked by Jacking In to one of its access points.
NET Architectures can have one or more levels of depth, commonly referred to as "floors", where Files and Control Nodes can be stored, and Black ICE, including Demons, can be set up as security against Netrunners and their Programs. A Netrunner can travel through as many floors in the NET Architecture as they want unless they come across something that blocks them, such as a Password. Netrunners should also be forewarned that when moving through floors, were they to encounter Black ICE, they will have to evade or defeat it in order to continue going lower into the core of the system.
Jacking Out of a NET Architecture "resets" its defenses, and forces a Netrunner who returns to the system back to its highest floor. However, a Netrunner can leave a custom Virus at the lowest floor of the NET Architecture to change it in a way that persists after they Jack Out - in other words, permanently.[1]
