The Minefield is a an area on the Eastern Wastelands in the Badlands.
Overview[]
This region dotted with mines is a leftover of the Unification War, and it marks the border between the Night City territory and South California.[1]
The mines were "claimed" to have been disarmed in 2071, but after people were injured by these "disarmed" explosives, most decided to steer clear of the area. All except except the smuggling types, who managed to make a number of their routes run through these fields. It is risky, but worth to, as due to the mines no one guards this portion of the border.
From time to time, Militech still patrols the border, and sometimes send Griffin droids to monitor the minefields.[2]

MINEFIELD
The minefield out in the Badlands is a legacy of wars long past. The mines were never cleared, meaning the field now serves as a "natural" border protection. The only people who know how to cross it safely are smugglers.[1]
