Disambig This article is about the location in 2020. For the location in 2045, see MetalStorm.

Metalstrom was a bar located in the Upper Eastside district of Central Night City.

History[]

Upper Eastside was considered a safe district due to its proximity to City Center. Slowly, a number of businesses moved in to take advantage of its central location, luring in the boostergangs around Night City. Metalstrom was one of these places.

Established in 2010 as a bar/club that late opened during the night, Metalstrom catered to the hardest and loudest of chromatic rock tastes. It was designed to blend in the best of rock bars and concert halls, eventually resulting in a quite unusual and unsettling atmosphere. Fortunately for the bar, its customers were too "brain-dead" to notice, turning Metalstrom into a success. Originally, the decoration was mostly indestructible, with counters and mirrors polished in steel, and tables and chairs made of resilient plastic. However, the owner — a canny corporate who hated music — decided to purchase "breakaway" furniture after experimenting much and spending a lot of money. Now, chairs and tables fell apart when overstressed, causing brawls in the bar to look like a Hollywood western film. The chromed customers credited this to their brawny physiques, of course.

Over the following years, the bar became very popular, with music bands such as Armed Havoc, Blood and Ice or The Destructors making regular appearances. The club opened at 4:00 AM, though employees arrived every morning at 9:00 AM in order to reassemble all the furniture. Most people who attended this place were armed, as they loved violence as much as their music. All this caused Metalstrom to have a very infamous reputation, but this didn't stop people from coming to this place to fight, drink and dance.

The nearby Kitty Liquor was a popular place for Metalstrom customers that didn't want to spend too much in the bar. The Kitty's owner, not wishing to anger a corporate, convinced the Metalstrom's owner to allow him to supply their liquor needs as well, with a major discount so no one would lose money in the process.

Due to the extremely territorial nature of many of the bar's chromer customers, many gang fights were started to see who could control the block where the bar was located. Eventually, it was decided that one representative of each gang would fight inside the Slammer's arena. This mass brawl resulted with the Back Alley Brawlers coming on top.

The NCPD didn't patrol this area too much by 2020, but ever since the Brawlers were tasked with its protection, it had become a pretty well-behaved neighborhood. People knew to respect the local code of conduct as posted around the block by the Brawlers.[3]
