Malorian Arms (also known as Malorian Firearms Inc.) is a weapons manufacturer in the Cyberpunk universe that specializes in powerful market firearms and custom weaponry.

History[]

Early history - 2010s[]

In the late 2000s or early 2010s, US Marine Eran Malour returned to the United States after years in service at the South American wars. Using his veteran's benefits and gunsmith skills, Eran started up his own business — Malorian Firearms — where he began building custom weapons for his friends. He soon gathered a following among many solos in the metropolis of Night City.

In 2016, Malour convinced some of his best costumers to invest in plans to expand his business. Thanks to their money, the renowned gunsmith managed to buy a small robotic factory in Night City that had been rendered obsolete by then-recent innovations in zero-gravity manufacturing. He simply modified the factory with his own specifications to design, produce and modify any firearm to the wants and needs of the costumer. With that, he established the headquarters of his corporation. "Distinctive firearms for distinctive people" was the motto found above its entrance.

Over the following years, Malorian Arms became a notorious manufacturer whose carefully produced custom weaponry was known for their accuracy, durability, and power-driven designs. If a client required a specific custom weapon or the Malorian version of any factory handgun, submachinegun, shotgun, or rifle, the weapon specifications were taken from a data file with over eighteen hundred firearm designs in its catalog. The robotic factory in Night City could machine most desired weapons from scratch in as short as two hours. Some of the best selling items at the time were the Vindicator grenade launcher, or the Malorian version of the M12 Beretta SMG in 10mm. Custom weapons made of high quality steel, alloy or polymers could also be ordered based on customer preferences. Malorian also did complete weapons record checks on their clients via a direct link to NCPD and INTERPOL databases. Known felons, customers suspected to be prone to cyberpsychosis, or clients with a history of mental problems automatically had their orders politely and firmly refused. If the legal status of the person was in question, the police was contacted immediately via computer net without the customer's knowledge. Notorious individuals such Morgan Blackhand and Johnny Silverhand were known for using Malorian weaponry.[2][1]

Around 2018, Malorian patented a new weapon system called liquid-propellant-action, however, the company lacked the capital needed to develop anything more than a working prototype. For this reason, Eran offered the license to Militech, who eventually used it to create the advanced M-31a1 AICW.[3]

2020s - 2040s[]

By 2020, Malorian had already created a number of revolutionary weapons such as the Sliver Gun, or the infamous Malorian Arms 3516, this last one being a succession of personalized handguns crafted specifically for Johnny Silverhand. Malorian also participated in a firearms show in Paris, where they showed the works of Janice Heart, who had recently designed the Malorian 3600 Super-SMG in a bid to surpass the excessively-replicated 3516.[4][3]

In 2022, amidst the Fourth Corporate War, the first prototype of the heavily expected Assault Cannon was finalized, though production and sales wouldn't begin until the following year. Eran himself chose Morgan Blackhand to wield this first iteration.[5]

During the 2040s, Malorian was known for producing superb quality weaponry,[6] though no new models had hit the market since 2043,[7] and Eran himself was mostly retired.[8]

2070s[]

By the mid-2070s, Malorian was not as famous as it once had been. This was due to the fact that the company had still not released a new firearm model since 2043, as such, they struggled to maintain a competitive presence in the market. Nonetheless, the old Malorian models still being manufactured were of top quality, and the company was still considered an iconic producer of reliable firearms for self defense.[7][9]
