Maine has fared better than its surrounding states, being too far north to've suffered drought, and too far east to receive acid rain. Its economy relies on its fishing industry, and fish are carefully raised inland before being taken out to sea to repopulate. Armed boats are necessary to keep away the large amount of illegal poachers in the area.[1]
