The Maglev Tunnel of Pacifica is a Voodoo Boys hideout located underneath the Pacifica Serenity Bible Church in Coastview.

Overview[]

This area is an old abandoned train tunnel which was once part of the transcontinental Maglev Network operated by Planetran. Just like the Net, after the Fourth Corporate War the network crumbled.[1] In the following decades, these tunnels would be used by the homeless and various gangs.[2]

At some point between the mid-late 2060s and the early 2070s, the Voodoo Boys turned this section of the tunnels into a hideout from which they accessed the Net.[1]

Night Corp, who had taken ownership of the old maglev network around Night City, has plans to revitalize the system by 2078.[2] It's unknown whether the old tunnels beneath Pacifica will be part of their new infrastructure in the future.

MAGLEV TUNNEL

People who have never been to Night City might be forgiven for getting NCART and the maglev tunnels confused. NCART is the city's public transport system, which includes the metro, while the tunnels are part of a still-under-construction high-speed rail network. They also represent two distinct social groups: the crowded, stifling NCART trains lug the lower and middle classes around, while a ride on the maglev (once the lines are opened, of course) will be for only the highest-ranking corpos. The existing tunnel, which will one day connect Corporate Plaza to the East Coast, is currently being renovated and expanded. Its opening will hail the grand return of the maglev network to Night City following years of neglect, when old stations were either abandoned or taken over by city gangs.[2]

Associated Quests[]

Notes[]

  • Night City's 2020 transcontinental maglev station was located in old Little China, northeast of Pacifica, with the railways heading east. It's unknown why there would be a tunnel in this side of the city unless it's an extension of the line heading south.
