Summary[]
Lucky You opens with a scene at night in the Afterlife club, where Dorio and Maine are talking about their target Tanaka, and Faraday, who won't reveal any more details about this job. Dorio is curious and decides to have Kiwi spy on Faraday to find out more. She and Maine then caress each other passionately, but their romance is interrupted by a call from David Martinez. David urges Maine, that he wants to learn more from him, and Maine reluctantly agrees, but sends the boy to Aldo, where he has to pick up a package for Pilar.
When he arrives at the address, he's welcomed unconventionally by Rebecca, who turns out to be Pilar's sister. Pilar is overjoyed by the new golden cyberhands. David leaves the apartment and receives a call from Lucy. She begins training David, and it turns out, it was Maine who talked her into that. The following scenes then show the crew at various odd jobs working and hanging out together. These action sequences are sometimes interrupted by calmer scenes at Aldo's, where Maine can be seen talking to David. Maine mentions the boy's interest in Lucy, but David is not sure if these feelings are mutual. David then improves himself even more.
The episode reaches its climax in a scene where the whole crew is in a merry mood out on the street. Pilar suddenly is enraged by an obviously derange man, who's peeing down from a container into a barrel. The others ignore him, but Pilar pokes fun at the man, not realizing that it is a cyberpsycho, ready to snap. Pilar is shot in the head in front of the others. David can't act in this moment and just freezes, but Maine is able kick him aside to save him from the man's attack. Rebecca, without caring for her safety, starts firing her guns. Maine orders Kiwi to knock her out, before she gets killed in her incredible rage. Maine is bothered by his cyberarm, which seems suddenly defunct and can't use the integrated gun to fire. This problem will continue in other episodes, where the issues with his implants will even increase.
David uses the Sandevistan to save Lucy by shooting the crazy man, but he's taking one last chance to attack again. Maine eventually kills the cyberpsycho. They decide to bring Lucy to the Ripperdoc and let Kiwi explain the attack to the Police.
The episode closes with David and Lucy together in a calm, romantic Night City scene in front of the moon. Lucy is worried about what will become of David, if he goes on as an Edgerunner. They finally kiss in this scene, which ends with his promise to take her to the moon.
