Love Like Fire is a Main Job in Cyberpunk 2077 and functions as the introduction to Johnny Silverhand and interlude between Act 1 and Act 2.
Walkthrough[]
Following the events of The Heist, wherein V is killed by Dexter DeShawn, the former's brain is repaired by the biochip's nanites, and they begin to relive the memories contained on it, specifically those that occurred on August 20th, 2023.
Now in the perspective of Johnny Silverhand, the Rocker makes his way to The Hammer, where Kerry Eurodyne has already begun to perform due to the former being late. Johnny is accosted by the bouncer, who angrily pushes Silverhand aside. Johnny continues inside until he is on stage, where he states that he is saying goodbye to his fans.
Before Johnny makes his eventual exit, he is stopped by Kerry, who hopes to dissuade him from marching towards his eventual death. Johnny brushes this off and depending on player choice, tells Kerry to pursue his own career instead of living in Johnny's shadow, or insults him.
Outside, Johnny meets with Rogue Amendiares, and the two board a helicopter destined for Arasaka Towers along with Shaitan and Spider Murphy. Upon reaching Arasaka Tower's roof, Shaitan begins to open fire on soldiers before being shot. Johnny takes over and clears the rooftop of all hostiles, he quickly checks the payload, revealed to be a miniature nuclear device to be planted inside of the building.
Johnny, Rogue, and Spider fight their way through the tower until they reach an elevator, which Johnny to send the nuclear device inside further down. Rogue motions for them return to the rooftop to make their getaway, though Johnny protests, stating he had another objective in mind: uploading a virus into Arasaka's systems which would free Alt Cunningham. Rogue gives him four minutes to secure Alt and make for the helicopter.
Johnny makes his way to Kei Arasaka's office, fighting soldiers in the garden area, before eventually uploading the virus under the direction of Spider Murphy. After completion, Johnny attempts to leave before being ambushed by Adam Smasher and his team. From there, there is a gap in Johnny's memories during which he evidently escaped Smasher, meeting with Rogue on the rooftop. Johnny rushes to reach the already-ascending helicopter, briefly getting lifted by Rogue before they are hit by an explosion, causing Johnny to fall be left behind. Smasher appears and shoots a dying Johnny, causing his consciousness to fade. He briefly reawakens on a stretcher being carried off by Arasaka employees amidst the chaos. Johnny wakes again, this time to an interrogation by Arasaka agents. Johnny can either stay silent or toy with the interrogators.
The interrogation is joined Saburo Arasaka, who after a brief interrogation, orders Johnny to be subject to Soulkiller.
Journal Entry[]
- It often happens that our memories are superseded by people's stories. Someone presents us a beginning, middle and an end, and soon enough we start believing that we really were there - that WE did all those things. But who we are is built on the past, and the past is built on lies.
- In 2023 Johnny Silverhand carried out an attack on Arasaka Tower. Fifty years later, those events became the memories of a certain V.
