We are who we pretend to be, I've pretended to be everything - that's why I've found the truth.[1]

– Lizzy Wizzy, Cyberpunk 2077

Elisabeth Wissenfurth[2], known professionally as Lizzy Wizzy, is an artist par excellence and one of Night City's top celebrities. Her work includes award-winning albums and concert tours, film appearances, and conceptual performance art.[1]

Lizzy changes her looks frequently, having a detachable cybernetic jaw and utilizes a full-body replacement in order to become her signature chrome form,[3] including Midnight Lady accessories.[4] As of 2077, she lives in the North Oak sub-district of Westbrook, in Night City.

Biography[]

2070s[]

Lizzy Wizzy, born Elisabeth Wissenfurth, became a renowned artist and successful celebrity. However, the turning point in her career came in 2071, when she unveiled herself in her true cybermodified form. To Lizzy, it was an erotic re-imagining of Snow White.

As her concert ended, Lizzy ate a synthetic apple laced with specially-prepared poison that induced cardiac arrest. For a full minute, the LED screens showed a close-up of the flatline on her electrocardiogram while her body was motionless on the floor. For five and a half hours the concert was on hold as a team of ripperdocs swapped out her biological organs for the latest generation of MoorE Technologies implants. Lizzy was eventually revived after the implants were put in place and once she got up off the floor she began to sing "Re-start, Re-heart, Repeat" a single that sat at the top of the world charts until 2072.[5][6]

Lizzy's anarcho-terrorist "performances" were inspired by her frequent stylistic transformations. Before them, she was known for giving away her clothing - to friends and people who needed it - but afterwards Lizzy wanted to give out implants, though it turned out that top-tier cyberware was linked to its user, and couldn't be simply given away.

Lizzy is known for her views against homogenization, and at some point she mounted an armed assault on a BioDyne Systems factory, during which she and a group of mercenaries took full control of the building and stole approximately 1,200 different implants. The stolen items were shortly later given away at an improvised concert. The heist and concert were broadcasted live, as she knew no corporate soldier nor police officer would dare to kill or harm her on live T.V. In the years following, the media argued that the heist had been arranged beforehand with BioDyne and that Lizzy paid for the implants and the renovation of the factory. The theory is seemingly supported by the fact that BioDyne never pressed charges against the artist. Lizzy still denies these speculations, claiming that the corporation co-opted her heist as free advertising.[6]

2077[]

Her latest artistic obsession by 2077 featured the medium of braindance. Lizzy wondered about the boundary between our documentation of reality versus of our active shaping of it. Due to this, fans speculated she was planning to scroll her own BD.[1]

That year, her boyfriend Liam Northom plotted behind Lizzy's back to make an engram copy of her personality and starts regular meet-ups with an Arasaka contact at the Riot club. Lizzy gets suspicious, initially thinking Liam has an affair, and hires the merc V to investigate. Through the club's surveillance system, Liam can be heard saying that Lizzy's personality has changed since she fully converted her body to chrome. Liam adds that he is beginning to get scared by her and that this is the actual reason for his attempt to create a "backup" of Lizzy. V secures the surveillance footage as proof and has the option to directly confront Liam before calling Lizzy, which can earn V a generous bribe (€$35,960) from him.[7]

If V lies to Lizzy, reporting that Liam was just having an affair:

Lizzy thanks V and the mission is concluded. She will not contact V again.

If V tells Lizzy the truth about Liam's plot:

Lizzy is hesitant to believe V at first, but then just says "Fuck" and hangs up after she gets the footage to proof it. Later she calls V and asks to meet in the No-Tell Motel. There, V finds her along Liam's corpse, whom she claims to have accidentally killed as she wanted to break up and pushed him earlier. She moves on saying that she feels empty, helpless, and not really herself, but V notices that she must have actually strangled Liam, breaking his spine. Lizzy then collects herself and starts formulating an idea of exploiting the tragedy by feeding it as a tale to the media. She tells V to do "whatever" with Liam's body, offering extra pay for it. She bids farewell by expressing her gratitude to V for giving her "something beautiful" and that she loves what she is turning into.

Phantom Liberty[]

Lizzy Wizzy attended Kurt Hansen's party at the club atop the Black Sapphire, where she had a stage performance singing Delicate Weapon. Prior to leaving the party, V had the opportunity to talk to her. Depending on the outcome of Violence if V had completed the quest, she either dismissed the merc or rewarded them with the unique Amikiri Sound Cutter headgear she had used in her performance. Someone recorded the concert and the only bootleg braindance of the event was obtained by Alena Xenakis, who sent it to V's apartment as a memorabilia of their first FIA job.[8][9]

LIZZY WIZZY

For some, the greatest stage artist of 2077; for others, a living, breathing ad for the full cybernetic body conversion offered by MoorE Technologies. Opinions aside, there is no denying that almost everyone around the world has heard of Elizabeth Wissenfurth, more widely known as Lizzy Wizzy.

Perhaps most famous for enacting her own death on stage followed by life-saving surgery, her critics claim Lizzy Wizzy is nothing more than a capitalist commodity assuming the guise of art. Lizzy herself seems to be deliberately toying with her audience, purporting to be the embodiment of future, or as she would say, "a chrome mirror in which social hyperconsciousness is reflected".

There are also those who fear the great artist replacing her entire body with chrome is slowly losing touch with reality and her own humanity. But isn't that what artists are for? To question the limits of humanity? And, if necessary, to sacrifice themselves for an answer?
