The Bandstand was located in the eastern section of Lake Park, due west of Japantown proper in Central Night City.

History[]

After the passing of Richard Night in 1998, in order to honor his memory, the City Council built a bandstand with a bronze plaque with his name on it. In 2014, however, the bandstand was destroyed during the Homeless Riots, though it was soon after rebuilt. Upon returning to Night City in 2015, Johnny Silverhand played a free benefit concert on it in order to bring attention to the brutal methods that the NCPD had used to quell those riots.

In the following few years, the structure stood pretty neglected. It wasn't until after MAX-TAC eliminated a cyberpsycho known as "The Claw" in 2019 that the bandstand was displayed on the city news headlines. Afterwards, the structure got a fresh coat of paint and it became a place used by public officials and the occasional rockerboy for small events.

By 2020, the bandstand still bore the original bronze plaque with Richard Night's name on it; one of the few items of metal in the Park that had not yet been pried off its fixture and sold.[1]
