Joshua Stephenson[Trivia 1][Trivia 2] is a character in Cyberpunk 2077.
Biography[]
Stevenson was convicted in 2065 for armed robbery, stating that "I was holding a gun. I didn't like the way they looked at me, and I had the power to stop them." His convictions include the murder of Caroline Jablonsky—the wife of Bill Jablonsky—and Ruben El-Ahmar—brother of Zuleikha El-Ahmar and son of Gloria El-Ahmar.[1][2][3] He is serving out his sentence in a Night City Prison.
During his time in prison, he found God, stating that "It didn't happen all of a sudden, I had a lot of time to think about what I did. After a while I understood that what I wanted more than anything was forgiveness." He received letters from Zuleikha while in prison. These letters are what started his path to redemption.[1]
He gained popularity due to media appearances and telling his story and his pursuit of forgiveness, and was hired by Fourth Wall Studios's agent, Rachel Casich. In his pursuit of redemption, he tries to seek amends with family members of those he has killed.[3]
When word came out that he is allowed to visit family members of the deceased, Bill Jablonsky decided he wants revenge for his wife, and plans to surprise Stevenson's escort. But to do so, he will need the help of a merc. After a tedious car chase, Bill Jablonsky ends up being shot by Stevenson's escort, NCPD Officer Vazquez.[4] And V is invited by Stevenson to accompany him for the day while he continues on his visit, paying him what he was originally owed for completing the contract with money from the studio. During the ride, he admits to V that the reason he needs company is because he feel lonely and that he needs someone to be there with him. After arriving at Gloria El-Ahmar's House, Zuleikha will accept his forgiveness, while her mother, Gloria, does not and asks Stevenson and V to leave.
Fourth Wall Studios convinced Joshua to trade in his sentence for a role to star in their new braindance recording, THE PASSION. Stevenson accepted the the role so that others can experience his transformation.
