Jimmy Kurosaki is a minor character that appears in the fifth episode of Cyberpunk: Edgerunners.
Biography[]
Jimmy Kurosaki is a renowned Braindance editor who's known for scrolling high quality BDs of recent events, which has made him extremely well known and exceedingly wealthy. He has several long running series of XBDs, such as Brain Death II (20 episodes), Edgerunners (32 episodes), It's Alive Not and many more. Kurosaki also does custom work for personal clients, going as far up as Arasaka board members, like Tanaka, for whom he creates custom made XBDs.[1]
One of the XBDs he made was of cyberpsycho James Norris who went on a rampage and, less than a day later, Kurosaki would scroll the recording in a BD of his Edgerunners series number 32.[1][2]
Maine's crew finds out that their target Tanaka enjoys Kurosaki's more exclusive XBDs and attempts to kidnap Kurosaki in order to recruit him to their cause. But Kurosaki has ways to protect himself with an EMP device, incapacitates the crew, kidnaps David instead and brings him to his studio. He then edits David into the role of Norris in Norris' rampage BD and lets the boy relive the madness again. Kurosaki then is surprised by Dorio and Lucy, who help David. However, Kurosaki can draw an ace again and calls two drones that protect him from above. After their deactivation, Kurosaki finally gives in and follows the group's orders. Maine's crew then lures Tanaka to Jimmy's studio with the promise of a special new scroll. Tanaka is able to defend himself and shoots numerous needles from the palms of his hands at the crew. After a short fight, Kurosaki is holding his throat, sinks bleeding to the floor and flatlines. He was hit by one of Tanaka's needles. David imagines JK grinning at him while dying, prompting fear into the young merc. After this the crew has to make a quick escape with Tanaka because Trauma Team is incoming due to Jimmy Kurosaki having Platinum Trauma Team insurance.[1]
In 2077, the BD of Norris's death that Kurosaki scrolled was left in a trash can for V to find, but with an added warning to not end up like David Martinez.[3]
