Imperial Metropolitan Agriculture is a British corporation in Cyberpunk 2020.

History[]

In order to secure food safety for the people of the United Kingdom, the Martial Law Authority organised a group called the Army Franchise Agricultural Development Committee (ARFRAGDEV), headed by commander Randolph Christmas. This group operated by policing agricorps and local farms alike, and by 2009 the committee controlled all food production in the country.

With their monopoly over the food supply secured, Christmas took advantage of his good standing with the government and successfully petitioned them to convert the ARFRAGDEV into a private megacorporation, a negotiation so successful it allegedly only took 15 minutes.

The company's modus operandi after that can only be described as ruthless in the way that they cease "unused farming land" and stage armed takeovers of any company that peaks their interest. Small towns were often leveled to be converted into fields, forcing the population of the UK into large, easily-managed cities.

Thought it started as a branch of the UK government, it saw the writing on the walls for the MLA. They struck a deal with the Hilliard Corporation, the second-biggest megacorp in Britain, to reinstate the exiled monarchy. The two companies retain a close relationship, and if properly allied could compete with the top global megacorps.

More recently they’ve even been investing in areas such as Canada and the Amazon Rainforest, forcefully subsidising Agricorps already set up in those areas. These subsidiaries are never emblazoned with the IMA name, making it rare for people outside the UK to know just how big the corp really is.[1]
