Hichigo Kanzaki is a character in the Cyberpunk universe.

Biography[]

Around 2020, Kanzaki was the head (or oyabun) of the most powerful yakuza clan based in Night City's Japantown. He was an aging, yet powerful man in his sixties; always impeccably dressed in a severe grey suit. Hichigo's six enforcer guards were at all times at his side. Among his retinue were his son Shin, whom was slated to inherit control of the clan when Hichigo retired; his beautiful daughter Yasume; and his wife Hitome.

During the 2010s, Yasume was been kidnapped by a rival Mob boss, but was rescued by Kenshiro Saeba. In exchange, Hichigo offered the young private investigator protection after being forced to leave his home in Little Italy due to the Mob controlling that area. While in Japantown, Hichigo was quite fond of Kenshiro and treated him almost as his second son, something that made Shin furious.

Kanzaki was a man of habit, moving in a predicable orbit from his luxurious penthouse at Tokagawa Tower to his headquarters in the backside of the XYZ Piano Bar at Nakagumi Business Plaza. He was considered to be leading a pillar of the local community, and took his civic responsibilities as seriously he did his underworld businesses. Whenever something went wrong in Japantown, Hichigo was the man to see about fixing it. Whether it took guns or money, Kanzaki always took care of his own people.[1]
