Heywood-Santo Domingo was an overpacked suburb located southeast of central Night City. It would eventually become the Santo Domingo district.
History[]
2020s - 2030s[]
The area where Heywood-Santo Domingo stood was originally the industrial city of Heywood, plus large portions of the neighboring Rancho Coronado. Prior to the Fourth Corporate War, this region housed many beaverville and industrial areas that got overwhelmed during the Fourth Corporate War, when droves of refugees climbed over themselves to get to safe spots like Heywood and Pacifica. Then the Night City Holocaust occurred, refuges from around the metropolitan area flooded the surrounding suburbs, constructing multitude of tent cities.
Over the following years, Heywood became overcrowded with homeless citizens who either fled other areas of Night City because of the war or who were pushed out due to the ongoing gentrification of the Rebuilding Urban Center. When the nomads begun to reconstruct Night City, they built their main campsite in this region.[1][2]
2040s - 2060s[]
By the 2040s, Heywood was a truly overpacked suburb of central Night City, housing a large percentage of its population, and was already starting to divide based on wealth and power. While the rich in the north simply called it North Heywood, the poor in the south referred to the area as Santo Domingo instead. A portion of Heywood was kept mostly intact, and continued to work as an industrial zone of renown despite the many tent cities occupying the area. Even in the middle of this chaos, ongoing development projects were still arranged, which included megabuildings to house the displaced population and plans to rebuild the NCART lines above ground and extend them to cover all the districts in the city.[1]
A security contract made 6th Street the official law enforcement for North Heywood. Among them, Davis Squad was the most notorious of the 6th Streeters keeping peace in the area.[3]
