Gustavo Orta is a high-ranking member of the Valentinos, and a relative of the gang's leader, Campo Orta.
Biography[]
Early life[]
Orta and Jackie Welles began life together in the Valentinos, both becoming fast friends. As the years went by, while Jackie left the gang, Gustavo's ruthlessness and familial ties helped him climb high on the Valentinos' ranks.[1]
2070s[]
In 2076, Gustavo sent Maria Torres, one of his lieutenants, after Dalton Estevan-Luis, a Valentino who had wronged the gang and was trying to escape.[2]
By 2077, Gustavo, who was known for his lack of mercy towards gang rivals and having garnered a name for himself for stamping them out of Heywood, started to become more mellow; his stony nature taking a backseat to a less callous personality, leading him to behave differently.[1] This was due to Gustavo having started to date Martha Frakes, the daughter of a senior member of the 6th Street gang. Their relationship was dangerous due to the bitter rivalry between the Valentinos and 6th Street, but both, who had fallen in love, maintained it a secret from everyone.[3]
Gustavo attended the funeral of Jackie Welles to pay his respects along with a Valentino entourage, including his girlfriend, who went under the disguise of a fellow Valentino named "Martha Young.” V could toast alongside Orta and his posse in Jackie's name.[1]
Sometime after, unfortunately, during a 6th Street ambush aimed at assassinating Gustavo, Martha was shot in the head during the attack and was hospitalized in a comatose state. The girl's father, Nolan Frakes, blamed Gustavo for his daughter's condition, as he believed he was responsible for her injury, not knowing his daughter would be at the ambush site. For that reason, Nolan hired Padre to contract an assassin to remove Gustavo.
V can accept this contract to eliminate Orta and can take several paths of resolution to do so. V can either enter Orta's apartment by force, stealth, or diplomacy. V has the option to kill Orta but can also render him unconscious and put him in the trunk of the car of one of Padre's employees. However, if V peacefully reaches Gustavo without conflict, they can find Gustavo in his office, where V can speak with him. Orta claims the assault was planned by Nolan to eliminate him, but was unaware that Martha would be there. Gustavo considers himself and Nolan are both equally at fault. V can then convince him to leave Night City, but he will refuse, initially, stating that Martha is still his love and that he can't abandon her, despite her dire condition. V answers that Gustavo is a marked man, others will follow, and, if Martha ever recovers, he won't be there for her. This convinces Gustavo to agree to leave the city, upon which Gustavo will stand down his security detail and surveillance systems, allowing V to leave his apartment peacefully.
However, upon leaving the apartment, V will receive a call soon after from Padre informing them that Gustavo has killed himself, complimenting V whilst pondering how they convinced him to do it. The quest then completes with the same rewards as if V had killed Orta. V can then take the elevator back up to the apartment to find Orta's body dead at his desk, though it is unknown if this was intentional. Alternatively, if V puts him in the trunk of Padre's employee car, his fate is unknown.[3]

Just one look at Gustavo Orta and you know he's a Valentino inside and out. His style could be characterized as ruthless – a trait that's certainly helped him climb to the peak of the gang's ranks. Recently, however, Gustavo has been acting... strangely. If the rumors are true, he spends more time silently contemplating the water in the bay than doing what he's been known and feared for – brutally stamping out his rivals in Heywood.[4]
