Generation Red is a yogang operating in Night City.
History[]
Generation Red was a yogang created during the Time of the Red by Apex and Lookout. Apex had fled from her corporate parents' home after experiencing abuse at the hands of one of their higher-ups, setting up camp in the Old Combat Zone of Night City with the help of her friend Lookout. That event scarred Apex, who was left with a deep distrust of adults and their own motivations. Instead, she put her faith on other kids like herself, quickly becoming a natural leader to them. These youngsters had families who were either absent, broken, uncaring, or just too busy to look after them. With Gen Red, Apex could provide what they lacked, giving the kids the resources and training to protect themselves on their own.
While Apex led the group, Lookout became its sentry, always watching for any menace. The latter was also a gifted artist, and it was her who painted Red Gen's logo based on one of Apex's ideas. Both established their hideout in an abandoned building somewhere in the Old Combat Zone, and over time more kids joined them. Blades, Hi-Stick and Izzy became essential newcomers to Gen Red, with Izzy collaborating with Apex to booby-trap their hideout as a first line of defense against anyone that wanted to hurt them, which in a combat zone was plenty of people. Izzy was also able to provide the yogang with some needed medical supplies from the nearby Crisis Medical Center, as her mother worked there. Despite their small amount of goods and experience, the kids were resourceful.
At some point later, Shredder and Wheelie joined the group, with the former acting as a some sort of peacemaker and caretaker for them. Alongside with Hi-Stick, these three kids transformed the ground floor of their hideout into a skate park, where they often practised their tricks. The last one to join the team was Tetra, the youngest of Gen Red, but the one who brought in the much needed firepower in the form of a rocket launcher she stole from her parents. Both her and Apex were instrumental in repelling an adult ganger attack to their hideout, which caused the yogang to be overjoyed of their own capabilities. Focused on surviving, Generation Red was able to put more of a fight than anyone had asked for, though they were not actively seeking for it. In fact, their increasing reputation was worrisome to Wheelie, who was afraid to bring in more trouble than what they were able to hold, especially since he was laying low in fear Continental Brands would target him as they had done with his parents. On the other hand, Gen Red also gained the attention of Danger Gal, a notorious detective agency in Night City who saw their potential as future employment. As such, they kept an eye over them, and even sponsored Blades, hoping she could convince the rest of the yogang to be brought into Danger Gal's fold. However, Apex's distrust on corporations and her desire to be independent proved to be a issue, and Danger Gal was not sure on how much longer Gen Red would last without real backup.[1]
