Garven Haakensen is a character featured in the Cyberpunk series.
Biography[]
2010s - 2020s[]
Garven was the deputy mayor of Night City under Mayor Mbole Ebunike, who was first elected in 2012. Garven, a shrewd operator with his eyes on the mayor's seat, had contacts with all the special interest groups in the city, as well as corporations and organized crime.
By 2020, due to Ebunike's behavior, Garven was always in his office and was approached for all sorts of favors he intended to call in one day. A joygirl by the name of Melinda, who worked in the premises of City Center, was a favorite of Haakensen and knew much about what happened in city hall.[2]
By July of 2023, during the Fourth Corporate War, the Arasaka Corporation had taken control over much of Night City, using the metropolis against Militech. When Mayor Mbole Ebunike stepped down after "suffering a nervous breakdown," Garven Haakensen took the reins as Acting Mayor. Arasaka was more content with him, as Haakensen was much more compliant and obedient than Ebunike.[3]
2030s - 2040s[]
After the Fourth Corporate War, Garven Haakensen stopped being Assistant Mayor and instead became a member of the Night City Council.[1] At some point, Garven appointed himself as the city manager for South Night City. Since he only cared more about obtaining money than doing his job, the district was a complete chaos.[4]
With his office at the new City Hall, by 2045, Councilman Haakensen still had many contacts around the city, and so far he had been able to continue his biding as before. Given the fact that there no longer was a Mayor of Night City, Garven had become the closest thing the Council had to a favor-granting power broker.[1]
