E3, or the Electronic Entertainment Expo is an annual video game conference in Los Angeles, CA, and is considered the leading event where big name projects and hardware are announced[1]. Cyberpunk 2077 was shown with a release date announcement of April 2020.

Cyberpunk 2077 did not make its introduction in such a style as it had done previously, rather it appeared during the regular conference line up following on from the announcement of The Blair Witch video game. The cinematic trailer showing the end of the prologue of the game was shown, where the outcome of the bio-chip Heist and V's subsequent betrayal by Dexter DeShawn was shown before the trailer ended with the reveal of Johnny Silverhand. Actor Keanu Reeves took to the stage to confirm his appearance as Silverhand in the game before showing another trailer and the release date of April 2020.
