Faraday was a corporate fixer and the main antagonist of Cyberpunk: Edgerunners. He will also appear in the Cyberpunk 2077: Gangs of Night City board game.
Appearance[]
Faraday was a slim, middle-aged man with gray hair. He wore a burgundy Neokitsch suit with black trim and yellow accents, black gloves, black shoes, and a white button-down shirt. His most striking features were his four cybernetic eyes, three of which were installed on the right side of his face.
Biography[]
Faraday was a ruthless fixer who worked for Militech. He was based in Santo Domingo and often hired Maine and his crew to conduct jobs that usually involve them performing corporate espionage against Arasaka.[3]
Cyberpunk: Edgerunners[]
After Maine's death during a firefight with Trauma Team and MaxTac, Faraday began working with the former's protege David Martinez and the remnants of his crew to continue operations.[4] These included the theft of a prototype from their research facilities. Farraday's connection to Militech led Arasaka to hire thugs to assassinate him, which he narrowly escaped. This assassination attempt was actually part of a plan by Arasaka counter intelligence to manipulate Faraday into defecting to their corporation. Faraday would not guess Arasaka's intentions, despite fancying himself a master manipulator and social climber. Spoken down to by his superior at Militech, Faraday would feel undervalued by Militech and endangered by Arasaka. Opening communication with a Douglas on their payroll, Faraday agreed to defect to Arasaka in return for helping track down Lucyna Kushinada, and collect data on a prototype exo-skeleton. For this task, Faraday would receive 500 thousand eddies and was promised another 500 thousand if he brought her alive. With help from Netrunner Kiwi, he set up a trap for Lucy, after multiple attempts to get her to willingly work with them. Unknown to David, Faraday would abduct Lucy before sending him on a job.[5]
Faraday tasked David with retrieving inventory from an Arasaka convoy, part of Faraday's plan to set a trap for David and earn the recognition of his new superiors at Arasaka. Faraday would use the captured Lucy to fake a call from her, with the fake Lucy encouraging David to don the prototype cyberskeleton. Lucy would escape Faraday's trap and contact David, but she was too late to stop David from donning the cyberskeleton. Faraday would taunt David with his actions, sending David into a vengeful rage.[6]
After this, Faraday would arrange for the death of his co-conspirator Kiwi, on Arasaka's orders. Kiwi would evade her assassins just long enough to have time to send Faraday's location to David, an act or both remorse and revenge. Kiwi would then be killed by a thug hired by Faraday.
Arriving by shuttle at Arasaka Tower, Faraday would meet with his contact at Arasaka counterintel, who would express displeasure at the events unfolding, as the powered up David had caused unpredicted and immense casualties to Arasaka. While in a verbal dispute with his contact, the powered up and nearly cyberpsychotic David arrived. David used his new gravity weapon to cause severe injuries all across Faraday's body.
Adam Smasher then took most of David's attention as a conflict was imminent. Faraday would beg him to kill David, but the ruthless borg wouldn't take orders from him, not knowing or caring who the lowly fixer was. However the vengeful David would not allow Faraday to escape, sending out an attack on the shuttle Trauma Team had sent to recover Faraday. Faraday would be fall to his death from the top of Arasaka Tower, but not by the hands of David Martinez, but because of the force of the blast from a missile launched by Adam Smasher.[7]
Gangs of Night City[]
Faraday is one of the character cards in Cyberpunk 2077: Gangs of Night City. He is described as the go-to fixer of Pacifica.
Description[]
- Faraday is very precise. If he plans something, he needs to know everything, even where his edgerunners will stand or what kind of cyberware they'll use.
- He doesn't like when something doesn't go as planned, but he won't scream or be angry. Oh, no, he'll be much worse. He will calmly tell you that you made a mistake and you should behave better next time. But you don't know if there's a next time for you. That's Faraday's modus operandi. He likes people to be stressed and scared, not sure of what he's got planned for them.
- He's cold, doesn't like to get close with his edgerunners, and knows how to pull strings. Thanks to his amazing planning skills, he always lands on his feet.[8]
