The Executive Zone was a gated area adjacent to the Night City suburb of New Westbrook during the Time of the Red.
History[]
2020s - 2030s[]
After the Fourth Corporate War, many refuges from around the metropolitan area of Night City flooded the surrounding suburbs, constructing multitude of tent cities. The richest community in old Westbrook was the Executive Estates, which, due to the overcrowding of people seeking shelter, decided to construct the Executive Zone, a portion of the hills they walled-off from the rest of Westbrook, locked off by the highest security money could buy.
Over the following years, New Westbrook grew around the Executive States, becoming an urban sprawl built in the remains of the original one, still gleaming with glitz and glam, but packed with homeless citizens who either fled other areas of Night City because of the war or who were pushed out the ongoing gentrification of the Rebuilding Urban Center.[1]
2040s - 2060s[]
By the 2040s, the Executive Zone was considered a place for the safety and pleasure of the corporate elite, carved out of the open hills surrounding Night City. It was a special gated and heavily defended community reserved for the use of the wealthiest and their families only. Apart from luxury homes, this area also had its own shopping and recreational facilities — including tennis and golf courses, private spas, and clubs. The City Council considered this district to have a threat level of "Executive," which basically meant it was one, if not the safest area of Night City. It was patrolled by corporate cops, including Lazarus private security.
By 2045, a high-security NCART monorail had been built to form a loop from the Executive Zone to Little Europe and the Watson Development. The station in the Zone was sealed off and required an entry pass to get into. Many tent cities still surrounded the walled community, which was something that displeased the rich residents.[1][2] However, the relatively small but influential new district of Charter Hill had already began development around the Executive Zone.[3]
Over the following years, reconstruction in Night City begun to stabilize. It was then when the wealthy residents of the Executive Zone decided to expand what they considered their safe and secure paradise. After paying off the city officials to legitimize their expansion, they hired out hired mercenaries to remove the refugees around the district and reformed Westbrook in their own image.[2]
