The Cyberpunk 2077 video game has several different outcomes dependent on the choices of V. These endings unlock different achievements and outcomes of the game's story.

Path of least resistance

V can also choose "the easy way out" and commit suicide. To get this ending, choose the first dialogue option available on Misty's rooftop. When Johnny asks if you're sure about it, choose the dialogue option "Could also just put all this to rest", followed by "[Toss pills] I know exactly what we're gonna do." V will have a small conversation with Johnny, both accepting the choice. As the scene shifts over to the view of Night City, V pulls the trigger.

Secret ending

There is a secret variation of The Sun ending in which V and Silverhand storm Arasaka Tower all by themselves. To get this ending, you need to choose a specific dialogue at the end of the Chippin' In quest. During the conversation with Johnny in the oilfields choose the following (the rest doesn't matter):

  • "Nah, fucked that up too."
  • "What do you want from me?"
  • "Ok. But as second chances go, this is your last."

After choosing that last dialogue, Johnny's affinity will go up to 40%, and the secret ending will be unlocked. Note: Only this dialogue will work. Choosing the other ones or having a higher affinity by doing the side quests won't change the outcome. As long as you get that 40% during that specific dialogue, you can do any quest you want, even if you choose to go directly to Hanako after finishing Chippin' In.

Whenever you decide, proceed with Nocturne Op55N1. On the rooftop with Misty, after the small talk with Johnny, you'll be given the option of asking Hanako (or Rogue and Panam if you also finished their quests) for help. Don't proceed with any of the possible choices and wait patiently without doing anything. After roughly 5 minutes, Johnny will take V's silence into consideration and offer one more option. This will trigger the quest (Don't Fear) The Reaper in which V and Johnny take part in a "suicide run" by walking through the front door of Arasaka Tower and taking on the enemy alone.

5 ending options cyberpunk.png

If V dies at any point, the credits roll and the game is over, and all characters will react as if V had committed suicide.

If V is successful in uploading Alt and connecting to Mikoshi, this will lead to The Sun or Temperance endings, depending on what V chooses to do with their body. This is also the only way Rogue will appear in Path of Glory.

Names

Other names for the endings include:

  • The Devil (Where Is My Mind) - Hanako's path, Arasaka's path
  • The Star (All Along the Watchtower) - Panam's path, Aldecaldos' path
  • The Sun (Path of Glory) - Rogue's path, Merc's path
  • Temperance (New Dawn Fades) - Johnny's path

Variations

The Arasaka ending ("The Devil") will be different if Takemura does not survive Search and Destroy, there will no be support from Arasaka troops and Oda will not show up (if he was saved during Play it Safe). In the end Anders Hellman will appear to offer V a choice instead of Takemura, V then chooses to become an engram or rejects Arasaka's offer and goes back to Earth to die. The Devil achievement will not unlock if Takemura is not alive.

The Sun ending where V becomes a legend of the Afterlife changes if the secret ending was chosen ((Don't Fear) the Reaper). In this ending V still becomes the owner of the Afterlife bar, however Rogue is still alive and greets V as they take on a new gig from Mr. Blue Eyes.

V's romantic interest will appear depending on who you choose to call when given the option on Misty's rooftop. Regardless of your choices, Panam and Judy will always leave Night City, and River and Kerry will always stay in Night City. You can continue your relationship with Panam or Judy by choosing the Aldecaldos ending ("The Star"), or continue your relationship with River or Kerry by choosing the Path of Glory ending ("The Sun") or by going back to Earth in the Arasaka ending ("The Devil").

Rewards

After completing the endings you may receive a few items as a reward, which will be brought to your inventory in the last save before Nocturne Op55N1. Additionally, during the final quests you might be able to acquire some items given by other characters or found somewhere else. Some won't be brought to your inventory but a few will. The Legendary Gorilla Arms are not equipped immediately and must be installed for free from any ripperdoc, and they're unlocked in all the endings.

Notes

  • Depending on the ending, V will either keep or toss the necklace with the bullet that Misty gave them.
    • In The Devil, if V signs the contract, they will put it on after entering the clinic, holding it tight. If they refuse to sign, while walking towards the shuttle, V will stop to gaze upon the Earth. Then they'll look on the necklace for a moment and tear it off.
    • In The Sun ending, V can optionally pick it up from the nightstand.
    • In the Star ending, while traveling on the top of the Basilisk, V will take off the necklace and gaze on it. Then they'll proceed to toss it off on the desert.
    • In the Temperance ending, Johnny will go to the Columbarium and put the necklace inside V's niche.
  • Accomplishing the endings The Sun and The Star will give V the reputation of Legend at 100%. The Temperance ending will lock it on Edgerunner at 90%. It's unknown for The Devil ending as the player cannot open the menu during the last quest.
  • If you finish Rogue's ending getting her gun, and then do Panam's and let Johnny have the body, Johnny will still have Rogue's gun and deposit it in her grave, despite Rogue being still alive and appearing in the calls in the credits.
