Airdrops are a gameplay feature of Cyberpunk 2077: Phantom Liberty.
Overview[]
The airdrop feature unlocks after starting the Lucretia My Reflection quest. The first one will spawn upon exiting the hideout on Elizabeth Kress Street for the first time.[N 1]
Periodically when roaming around Dogtown, a distinct roaring sound made by a fast-moving AV can be heard, which will then launch an orange cache at the ground. The container will be visually marked by a bright, red smoke, as well as a loud, echoing beep emanating from it, indicating that the cache is active. The player can then approach the cache and hack it open with Breach Protocol to gain access to its contents.
Typically, the airdrop cache will be surrounded by enemies seeking to open it for themselves, and V must either fight them off or run to the cache as fast as possible.
Only one airdrop can be active at a single given time, and will despawn after moving out of its vicinity.
There are two types of airdrops; randomized airdrops which spawn repeatedly in the same spot, and unique airdrops that include shards and iconic loot. Unique airdrops will only occur once and will not re-occur when despawned.

AIRDROPS
The skies above Dogtown never sleep. Every now and then, AVs fly into its airspace and drop gifts for BARGHEST. Who sends the airdrops to Dogtown? It's a mystery. What's in the airdrops? Also a mystery. Want to unravel it? Take a look inside and try to survive.
Metaquest Locations[]
These airdrops only occur once. After the first initial airdrop at a location, recurring airdrops can spawn at these locations containing loot instead, in addition to other randomized loot. If any of the airdrops related to the metaquest are skipped, they will despawn and they and their loot become permanently unavailable.[B 1]
After completing the side job Run This Town, the loot contained in some of these airdrops is altered.
