CrystalDome is an environmental projection system used in some vehicles in the Cyberpunk universe.
Overview[]
The CrystalDome tech was developed in order to safeguard the occupants of a vehicle from the dangers of the outside. The device achieves this by replacing the crystal windshields with metal plaques connected to a CrystalDome system, which then projects the exterior view into the plaques, allowing the occupants to visualize the outside as if it was a simple windshield.
By 2077, at least three companies were known to use this system.
Rayfield's CrystalDome®[]
Rayfield's projection system is based in total isolation by having a windowless bodywork design, providing absolute protection and privacy for the passengers. With this, almost all of the vehicle's cabin is connected to CrystalDome, thus the range of view is larger.[1]
Militech's CrystalDome[]
Militech's method is based on integrating the system into the vehicle instead; replacing the windshields by the CrystalDome device. By doing so, they are able to keep the original structure design, thus allowing to lower the metal plaques in order to interact with the exterior. As a military company, Militech have an arrange of heavy duty vehicles which also use the technology, albeit it is more advanced than the ones used in less expensive vehicles.
Nomads are known to be a resourceful people, and very good engineers and mechanics. Many of their vehicles, despite looking as if someone had just put together a few pieces of metal, are quite advanced technologically, and some have started to install Militech's CrystalDome variants in their own cars.[2]
Other CrystalDomes[]
Some of the vehicles developed by other companies also include CrystalDome tech. An example would be the Surveyor aerodyne from Zetatech.
