Chang-Hoon Nam (남창훈) is a netrunner in Cyberpunk 2077.
Biography[]
Nam has been an associate for Wakako Okada for years, as he was hand picked by her to do business. Ever since, he hasn't let her down once.
Sometime in 2077, he started digging into finding other Netrunners that were roaming The Net, in particular one by the name of Spectral Kid, whom he believes is a reckless teenage 'runner who needs guidance before he get himself into too much trouble. This would deem too late, as Spectral_Kid was not to be reasoned with and eventually got himself killed whilst poking around in Voodoo Boys territory. At one point he was contacted by a netrunner in distress named Dante, who had been become trapped in the Net due to a Soulkiller attack during a gig and could only communicate in binary code. Unfortunately, despite Nam being able to understand Dante's messages, there was nothing he could do for the runner.
He was hired by Wakako to find information on a illicit netrunner that goes by the pseudonym Vortex after the latter dissapeared, but to no avail, forcing Wakako to rely on V instead. Later, he was tasked with cracking open a Corpo code-case, but ended up getting trapped within his own local subnet. This came to the attention of Wakako, who became suspicious after Nam failed to reply to her emails, and so she dispatched V to find out Nam's whereabouts.
If V successfully helps Chang Hoon Nam during Gig: Wakako's Favorite:
- After helping Nam get free of his local subnet, he will inform Wakako of his whereabouts and what happened and will later turn into a Netrunner Vendor from which Quickhacks can be purchased with a 20% discount.
- If V chose to ask Chang-Hoon Nam for help in getting intel on the MaxTac convoy:
- V told Chang-Hoon, who suffered from aphasia after the hack, that he should leave Night City, because he was in a bad state and at risk of being tracked by MaxTac. They mentioned Hwangbo Dong-Gun as an example of a person who managed to leave the city with their help.[2]
If V fails to help Chang Hoon Nam during Gig: Wakako's Favorite:
- Chang-Hoon Nam will stay trapped inside his local subnet or be deceased, much to the displeasure of Wakako.[citation needed]

CHANG-HOON NAM
Chang-Hoon sees himself as a bundle of contradictions constantly battling for dominance in his mind. Ambition versus aloofness; the desire to help others versus his own safety; hunger for knowledge at odds with wanting a bit of peace and quiet. For a netrunner, it's a highly unusual set of traits. Chang-Hoon is an experienced analyst and explorer of cyberspace. His code and daemons are often similar in their MO as him: effective, but tame. Perhaps that's why he frequently collaborates with Wakako Okada. The Watson fixer likes to rely on him because he's dependable, and in turn he likes to know what's expected of him. Which is not to say that Chang-Hoon doesn't enjoy a bit of risk - what netrunner doesn't? But some risks are too tempting to refuse even when common sense tells him otherwise. He has the same thought every time: "Every time you take a risk, you get into Trouble. Capital 'T' kind of trouble." That's why Chang-Hoon thinks long and hard before each assignment, assessing whether it might be his last. Until now, he's been lucky.
