Self-respect breeds self-discipline. Once you have both, you have real power. [...] I just feel like people expect some motivational bullshit from me.

 — Cassidy during With a Little Help from My Friends, Cyberpunk 2077

Cassidy Righter is nomad and member of the Aldecaldos in Cyberpunk 2077. Cassidy is a true and unfiltered person with a generally warm and fair personality.

Biography[]

Cassidy Righter is a man of conviction, believing in a simple but true life and upholding values such as honesty and loyalty while maintaining a sarcastic humor. Cassidy described the allegiance to the family his Aldecados clan formed to be unconditional and the support among clanmembers to be an anchor in his life.[1][2] Cassidy was a smoker, played the guitar, and did not use any cyberware.[3]

Cassidy became good friends with fellow Aldecaldo Panam Palmer early on when he rescued her best friend who was captured by the Raffen Shiv, a rivaling Nomad group, when they were a child. Cassidy would remain a close friend of Panam and become somewhat protective of her.[4] Like several other Aldecaldos including Mitch Anderson, Cassidy also became a veteran of the Unification War of 2069 and 2070.

2077[]

When Cassidy's clan leader, Saul Bright, got abducted by the Wraiths, a Raffen Shiv clan, Cassidy was not exactly optimistic about the prospects of rescuing him, but figured they should try anyways. The morning after Panam together with a merc called V successfully retrieved Saul, Cassidy picked Saul up at the abandoned farmhouse the group had spent the night and congratulated V on a job well done.[5]

Together with clan members Taco, Teddy, and Carol, Cassidy then met a group of Scavengers in Santo Domingo to sell them weapons as the clan was in dire need of money. As their delivery was delayed, however, both sides agreed to a 15% discount. V can walk into their discussion, causing Cassidy to be surprised and slightly annoyed, saying that they do not need to be patronized. V's presence will then prompt the Scav leader to recognize them for being the merc that took out their hideout to rescue Sandra Dorsett.[6] If V has at least 10 body, the Scavs can be intimidated and the deal is concluded peacefully, which Cassidy and Carol briefly thank V for. If V cannot intimidate the Scavs, however, a firefight will ensue. As Carol blamed the interrupted deal on V, Cassidy jumps in, saying "You never know if your bad luck has spared you from worse luck. You charged into the lion's den to help us, V. Why? 'Cause you listened to your heart. That's a rare thing. 'Specially out here. Some things... money just can't buy. Thanks for everything, V. So long." The group then collects the money (either from the intimidated Scavs or from their corpses) and leaves.[7] If V is male and initiated this side job before Queen of the Highway, Cassidy will also write him a text message concerning Panam.[Notes 1]

Together with Teddy, Carol, Bob, and Mitch, Cassidy subsequently supported Panam's plan to strengthen the clan by stealing a Basilisk tank from a Militech convoy through the Badlands. Saul staunchly objected to the risky undertaking, and Cassidy would have prefered to have his backing, but joined in nonetheless as he was convinced that the plan, aided by V, was sound. Cassidy later remarks to V that he really respects the merc's assistance, saying "Respect your efforts. Self-respect breeds self-discipline. Once you have both, you have real power. [...] I just feel like people expect some motivational bullshit from me." On the eve of the heist, the group sat by the fire together and Cassidy, playing the guitar, told Panam to join them with "Sit your ass down a minute, honey, and breathe." After the successful attack, Cassidy asked V how they were doing and if they had fun. Upon their return to the Aldecaldos camp with the Militech loot in tow, Cassidy asked whether he should talk to Saul in order to soften the blow for Panam but she declined. When Bob asked what to do with the big Militech trucks they have stolen, Cassidy simply commented "Oh I've got an idea."[3] By that he meant to leave the trucks by the Raffen Shiv camp, so that Militech would blame them for the attack. Cassidy described it as "almost as much fun as leaving a bag of flaming dog shit on their doorstep." Just as the group finished assembling the tank, they had to put it to use to defend the camp against a Raffen Shiv attack. After the ambush was fought off, Cassidy stood by as Saul made Panam co-leader of the clan, recognizing his earlier mistakes and the value she brings to the family. Cassidy sarcastically joked "Terrible choice. I voted nay." The clan then moved camp and V passed out, prompting Cassidy to welcome them back to the living after waking up again.[8]

If "The Star" ending was chosen at the end of Nocturne Op55N1, i.e., V asks Panam and her Aldecaldos for help to reach Mikoshi:

On the eve before their attack on the Maglev Tunnel Construction Site, Cassidy can be found shooting at empty bottles at the southeast end of the camp. V can join Cassidy's target practice; hitting 12 or more bottles prompts him to offer V his revolver, Amnesty.[1] The next day, Cassidy participates in the Aldecaldos attack on the construction site, which is defended by Militech. While Panam, Saul, and V enter the tunnel with the Basilisk tank to infiltrate Arasaka Tower, Cassidy and the other Nomads stay outside to fend off any further Militech soldiers.[9]
If V decides to return to their own body while inside Mikoshi:
A few weeks after the attack, which was successful albeit having cost Saul's, Bob's, and Teddy's lives, Cassidy, along with Carol and Mitch, waited for Panam and V at a temporary camp on Jackson Plains outside Night City before their planned border crossing. Before the group heads off, Cassidy remarks to V that they look like shit. He then reminds V of how much his Aldecaldos family means to him and that clan members will always have each other's backs.[2]

Side Quests[]

Notes[]

  • He drives a Colby "Little Mule".
  • Cassidy's revolver is called Amnesty. It can be obtained during We Gotta Live Together, which is part of the Aldecaldos ending, and will be brought to V's inventory at the last save before meeting Hanako after playthrough.
  • Cassidy's scan originally affiliated him with the NCPD. This was fixed in a later patch.
  • Along with Teddy and Carol, Cassidy is absent from the Nomad camp following Riders on the Storm, even after the Aldecaldos move to a new location at the end of Queen of the Highway. While this is to explain them being busy with Gun Music, they will not reappear even after completing the mission and are therefore not physically represented in the game until the player choses "The Star" ending and initiates We Gotta Live Together. This is unlike Taco, who also participates in Gun Music but will appear and can be talked to at the Nomad camp after the job.
  1. If V is male and completes Gun Music between With a Little Help from My Friends and Queen of the Highway, Cassidy Righter will send him the following text message: "See you and Panam're getting along finer than a frog's hair split three ways. Here's to hoping things work out for y'all. Cause if they don't, and it's your fault, we'll drag you to the nearest tree and hang you by your cherries. Pending a fair trial, of course. Do well to remember that." The reference to V's "cherries" is made regardless of the player's genitalia choice, which has no bearing on the player's gender and romance option with Panam.
