Quickhacking is a gameplay mechanic in Cyberpunk 2077.

Overview[]

Quickhacking is the process of uploading a quickhack into the enemy's cyberware or a local subnet.

A potential target can be scanned by using the scanning function of the installed Ocular System cyberware.

The process differs from that of a fully fledged Netrunner, whom has to physically jack-in to make a connection with the Net. Quickhacks are limited to local nets.

There are five types of quickhacks; Combat, Control, Covert, Device, and Ultimate. Each of these subtypes have their own special strategies as well as function.

Breach Protocol[]

Breach Protocol is a mini-game that is part of quickhacking. Every cyberdeck comes pre-installed with the Breach Protocol quickhack that allows use of this mechanic, and therefor, a cyberdeck is mandatory in order to make use of Breach Protocol.

Breach Protocol allows you to breach the ICE of a local network (also known as a subnet), and allow the upload of "daemons", that will infiltrate all connected enemies and devices. A maximum of 4 daemons can be uploaded at the same time.

Once Breach Protocol has been initiated, a new interface will open that will allows the entry of a sequence of characters, which can be selected from the Code Matrix. Each block will apply to every daemon that qualifies, allowing nesting and overlapping of sequences. The maximum size of the sequence that can be entered is determined by your cyberdeck's Buffer Size.

Access Points[]

Access Points are physical ports that exist in the world, with which it is possible to access the local network (also known as subnet), by connecting to them using the Personal Link.

The Ping quickhack can be used to automatically highlight nearby Access Points.

ICEpick[]

The ICEpick daemon can be uploaded onto a network or Access Point by using Breach Protocol in order to reduce the RAM requirement of quickhacks by 1.

Datamine[]

The up to three versions of Datamine daemon can be uploaded onto an Access Point by using Breach Protocol in order to receive eurodollars, quickhack crafting components, and/or even other quickhacks once upgraded.

Encrypted Shards[]

There are several shards that can be found that are encrypted. They can be decrypted using Breach Protocol, unlocking their decrypted message or other rewards, such as eurodollars.

Associated Quests[]

Notes[]

  • Breach Protocol may be interrupted at any time, but once a daemon has been successfully installed, the Code Matrix can no longer be reset by disconnecting, as the daemons will be uploaded.
  • Quickhacking technology was invented sometime after the Time of the Red,[1] though cyberware that was immune to quickhacks was already on the market by 2045 as a measure of future-proofing.[2][3]
