Assisted Combat Personnel Armor (ACPA), occasionally still referred to by the older name of Assisted Combat Personal Armor, and otherwise known as Powered Armor (PA), refers to a combat environment suit that has been reinforced with composite armor and assists the wearer in carrying its own weight as well as additional equipment and weaponry. It uses a more powerful advanced linear frame commonly referred to as a "chassis".
The first working ACPA unit in the world - albeit a light version called the Jacksuit, was built by MetaCorp.[1]
Overview[]
An ACPA greatly increases the survivability and strength of a PA Trooper. A trooper can deadlift 90% of their suit's maximum weight capacity and carry up to 50% maximum weight capacity with no noticeable encumbrance.
Many ACPA also have a suit initiative bonus (SIB) that provides increased speed (MA + SIB).[2]
ACPA are powered by a combined fuel cell/battery unit that lasts 24 hours and can be replaced in the field. All ACPA are considered watertight down to 30 meters, and have a filter/rebreather system that allows for 1 hour of sealed operation. The filter system also works on dry land.[3]
