Anna Hamill is a blue-blooded cop, through and through. The kind you'd expect to see in some NCPD promo. Beautiful, smart, honest to a fault. In other words, a really bad fit for Night City.

 — Regina Jones, Cyberpunk 2077

Anna Hamill is a character in Cyberpunk 2077.

Biography[]

Early Life[]

Anna Hamill worked as a patrol officer in Night City. Amidst the rife corruption of the NCPD, Anna remained honest and was against any form of injustice. Her intentions were always pure, and she was one of the few good cops in town looking to make a difference. This, however, did not sit well with her less ethical colleagues. She would often become involved in matters the NCPD were already well aware of but simply turned a blind eye to. Despite the hostility from her colleagues, she persisted. While decent and honest, Anna is shown to be quick tempered and impulsive.[1]

2077[]

In 2077, Anna began working undercover in a rented apartment above Watson's Kabuki Market. During her investigative work on a smuggling ring, Anna had managed to stumble upon systemic corruption at the highest levels. In her pursuit of the truth, she endangered at least two witnesses, promising them protection that Anna was either unwilling or unable to truly provide.[2][3] This even included information on the NCPD cooperating with the Tyger Claws to cover up traces leading all the way to Jotaro Shobo's trafficking of victims for his XBD workshop, and the subsequent sale of the "orphaned" cyberware through people like Finn "Fingers" Gerstatt.[4][3][5] This enraged Anna so much so that she began killing involved NCPD officers. Her former colleagues that had directly benefited from these illicit actions hired a fixer to prevent further discovery by removing Anna from the equation.[6][1] However, the fixer they had contracted was Regina Jones, a former investigative journalist, who had a soft spot for truth seekers. Regina hired a mercenary named V for the job and requested that they seek other options to remove her.

Whilst Anna continued her investigation in the rented apartment, she was confronted by V, pulling her gun and demanding answers as to why they were there.

If V tried to talk her down and failed or simply followed the contract:

V can try to negotiate with Anna in an attempt to have her back off for her own safety but fail, or simply follow through with the contract and execute Anna to protect the corrupt NCPD officers involved.

If V successfully talked her down:

If V speaks calmly and logically to Anna, she will reluctantly discontinue her investigation, declaring that she despises Night City and intends to leave.
If V is a Nomad:
If V chose the Nomad lifepath, being an ex-nomad, they can inspire Anna to join a nomad clan instead, as their ideologies closely match her own. She can later be found at the Aldecaldos Mobile Camp and later Nomad Camp. There she is found playing with several children and tells V that she misses Night City, but feels good overall regarding her decision.
If V is not a Nomad:
If V is either a Corpo or Streetkid, several days after encountering Anna, V will find a dead NCPD officer dumped in a pile of garbage and possessing a data shard, located in an alley near Hamill's hotel. The conversation on the shard reveals that Anna, instead of leaving Night City, was out for the blood of every corrupt NCPD officer she could find. Several days after this, a news broadcast will reveal that one Anna Hamill was killed after entering an NCPD precinct and executing a number of officers before being eliminated herself. The official motive was filed as cyberpsychosis, while unofficial reports stated desperation.[7]

ANNA HAMILL

Want to live until a ripe, old age in Night City? Then learn to turn a blind eye. You see some little punks drag your neighbor into a dark alleyway? Look away. Notice a badge taking eddies from a Tyger Claw member? Look down and check if your shoelaces are tied. Stolen implants from the scavengers being sold at the market stalls? Buy them – they're cheaper than the legal ones anyway. Most folks understand these basic rules, but not Anna Hamill – she seems to be allergic to any kind of injustice. When she sees a misdeed, her entire body screams, "react!" It sounds ridiculous, but some people are just good at their core, like Anna – which makes it even more of a shame that she works at Night City's most corrupt institution.[8]

Associated Quests[]

Associated Shards[]

Notes[]

  • In the nomad outcome, V gives Anna the coordinates to where she could go to join a nomad clan. Even if V hasn't met with the Aldecaldos, she will regardless appear at their camp.

Bugs[]

  • There is a glitch where Anna stays in the first Aldecaldo Mobile Camp following it's relocation.
  • Anna always appears as hostile with a yellow marker even after deciding to join the Aldecaldos. She also appears as a grey circle on the mini-map as compared to the other Aldecaldos appearing green.

A disgruntled officer, Anna Hamill, opened fire on her superiors, killing them, before she too was gunned down by vigilant colleagues. Her motive remains unknown, though official channels have floated cyberpsychosis as the likely cause. Unofficial, insider reports, however... cite desperation. I think we've all been there...)
