Aerocab is a private transportation service operating in Night City.

History[]

Airtaxi companies like Aerocab were a relatively new phenomenon in the United States during the 2010s. They were made possible only due to corporate AV-fleets and government obsolescence that made aerodyne vehicles available at lower prices. Aerocab was one of the first to break into this lucrative market after purchasing used and older AVs. The company gained a very strong foothold by subsidizing AV-landing pads and rooftop platforms across Night City. Landlords were satisfied to let Aerocab vehicles land on their buildings in exchange for the corporation paying a share of the pad's costs.

By 2020, Aerocab was primarily an airtaxi company, specializing in short flights to local areas in the Night City metropolitan region, though they also had a few ground units to take customers into places where a flying vehicle would find landing too dangerous. Aerocab was not cheap, being mostly a luxury for movers in a hurry, or mercs on the run from a botched job; with prices of 10eb per mile, plus a 25eb pick-up fee. However, they were generally safer than ground taxis, as there weren't many gangs capable of ambushing a flying vehicle. As a result, it became a popular service for up and coming corporates who had money but not enough sway to rate their own company vehicle. Aerocab's main rival was Red Cab, who used both ground and AV vehicles, but in the later case they were not a menace to Aerocab, and both companies were in a good standing.

The company's taxi force consisted of approximately ten reconditioned AV-4s, three aerogyros, and three AV-7 vehicles plus a few ground cars. Aerocabs units could be called by phone, dataterm, or from most buildings in the Corporate Center. The company headquarters were located in Little China.[1][2]
