Aaron McCarlson is a NCPD sergeant and former associate of Regina Jones appearing in Cyberpunk 2077.

Biography[]

Aaron McCarlson serves an NCPD sergeant. While Aaron rose to become an influential officer, he was also notoriously corrupt. He was in contact with a Valentino member Claudio Moreno and persuaded him to murder his former superior, Dario Sanchez, after the latter left prison, making sure that the police would not interfere during the hit.

Sometime in 2077 McCarlson became indebted to Dee, apparently his former love interest. Upon being reminded of his debt McCarlson met up with Dee but, instead of paying her, had her shot. He then realised that his crime was recorded by a CCTV located in a warehouse run by Maelstrom. He contacted the fixer Regina Jones, for whom he had previously worked as a consultant on a show "Cops 'n' Chops" , asking her to arrange for a retrieval of the camera footage, claiming that he needed it to conclude an investigation into Maelstrom.

Regina sent the mercenary V, who retrieved the footage but also watched it and realised McCarlson's true motive. The fate of the policeman depends on V's choice when he met up with his client to conclude the contract.

If V cut a deal with Aaron or handed him the footage without revealing his knowledge of the contents:

Aaron managed to avoid any consequences for his crime and can be found at Dino Dinovic's bar in Downtown, City Center.

If V refused to cut a deal and incapacitated Aaron:

Aaron is blackmailed by Regina and becomes her asset inside the NCPD. Similarly, he can be found at Dino Dinovic's bar in Downtown, City Center.

If V refused to cut a deal and killed Aaron:

Regina is disappointed in V's choice, and neither her nor V get any money from the contract on the account of their client's death.

The NCPD doesn't boast a glowing reputation. That should come as no surprise, really. They pull their weapons more often on those who pose the least threat, and give a wide berth to the city's most gang-infested areas. You throw these allegations at the police, however, and the response you get back is "What do you expect?" After all, they're paid pitiful wages and often equipped with last generation's most average gear. Whenever they absolutely need to guarantee results, they turn to the merc world for help. This is Aaron McCarlson's MO: he never sticks out his own neck when he can stick out someone else's for a flat rate. And what are the jobs he delegates out to the city's chromed-out vigilantes? No one knows exactly. Fixers don't ask such nosy questions.[1]
